Hi there!

So you finally reached the campus after a tedious long journey to the end of the city.

Lucknow, the city of nawabs (popular for its chikan, chicken and kebabs)  is the capital of our state Uttar Pradesh. IET is popularly known as “Engineering College” here, being the only government engineering college in the city. The road that will lead you to the plethora of cafés and eateries is called Sitapur Road. These terms will help you find your way back when Google Maps or Uber will stop working on your first excursion.

Let's get inside the lush green campus of the college and cognize what all facilities the institute provides the students with. So look meticulously at the splendid infrastructure and experience the college life of the IET society here.

Welcome!

As soon as you enter the gates, the first square is called the “Tiger Chauraha”. Since it is a four way and it has a massive tiger painted over it by the arts club of IET - Kalakriti, therefore it is named so. It is the most important junction for most important meetings to take place.

CLASSROOMS

IET Lucknow provides its students an ambient environment in their classrooms for studies and lectures. With well ventilated and spacious halls, it has state-of-the-art facilities in order to maintain the decorum of class.

The cool breeze will surely attempt to lull you to sleep but a good company or a good teacher may keep you wide awake.

The classroom's acoustics are hand-picked in an attempt to provide a space where learning can take place uninterrupted by outside distraction.

There are twelve Lecture Theater or LT's for senior students and eight New Lecture Theater or NLT’s for juniors. Both NLT’s and LT’s are furnished with large whiteboards and blackboards respectively and a small part of ground is staged for the teachers as well. The architecture of the room is designed for an efficient view of the board even by the backbenches. Approximately a hundred students can attend a lecture comfortably in the classroom.

The different departments have their own classrooms which are different from lecture theaters.

On moving left of Tiger Chauraha and crossing the canteens, you will see a large vacant space which looks like a parking lot. You will realize its importance after you witness people doing some or the other activity which draws people's consciousness.

It is the Colosseum of IET where the gladiators perform and the spectators watch. Arena serves as a ground to hold band wars, record videos, hold painting competitions and much more. Also, it's a practice zone for our dramatics club JOSH.

Its idiosyncratic nature is increased by its location which is next to the Auditorium.

It's riveting to note pupils here use it effectively and efficiently  when required. Usually from morning only it is preoccupied with the Drama team for morning practice session.

Arena and its surroundings are also used by the KALAKRATI (fine arts team) painting it all around either on the ground or at the walls making it snappy for a person passing by.

ARENA

AUDITORIUM

Just right to the Arena, stands the colossal Auditorium. It is the house to all the major events that take place in the college. The designing team redesigned the layout to make the space functionally efficient and optimize every square inch without compromising on the safety aspect in case of emergencies.

The hall has a seating capacity of 750+ seats. The building’s functionality is flexible so that it would enable the multi use of the space as a theater, conference Hall, award function hall, holding TedX, witnessing convergence and what not.

During the refurbishment, the auditorium was upgraded to a hall that is not affected by the outer climate. Special care is taken to enhance the acoustics of the hall. The auditorium hall of IET Lucknow is such build to meet the technology of today and tomorrow.

An auditorium with balcony, vermilion colored new seats, perfect wooden stage, notable screen, it’s a paradigm of the ideal hall a fresher would expect.

SHOPS

At IET we have a stationery and a station-ary shop which is popular by the name "AUNTY KI SHOP" (HOI ep. 1).

It's located near NLT Main gate from the last 12 years with the same infrastructure and the same aunty. The shop has stationery and refreshments as well for us to grab between lectures. It is just a blessing because this shop is the only one inside the campus, for everything else you still have to go out. This shop can give you A4 pages to scribble your assignments, pens to scribble on the pages along with a bunch of toffees to chew upon. Aunty ki shop is open from 9 am so that even if you wake up at 8.55 and forget something to buy, you can still grab it. However, don’t be too over dependent as it is just a shop, not doraemon’s pocket.

SHAURYOTSAVA GROUND

There is a great tradition for sports at IET LUCKNOW. Students and faculty all participate in the many sports played at IET enthusiastically and it is never too late to start with a sport and to gratify the sportsman inside us. For first year boys, it’s even better as they can play anything they want even inside the hostels while it narrows down to indoor sports for residents at Sarojini Hostel (the first year girls’ hostel).

Our campus has a vast and fine playground commonly known as the ‘’ SHAURYOTSAVA GROUND’’ in front of the Sarojini Hostel.

There is ample space for various sports such as volleyball, football, futsal and cricket and the complete utilization of the ground can be seen during the sports fest ‘’SHAURYOTSAVA’’.

No sports are left out when it comes to IETians. You will find champions of every niche and every game. The ground is occupied due to construction of the stadium. We will have our stadium soon. The sports complex will look more than a bare ground, an epitome of a sports complex.

COLLEGE CANTEENS

Amongst the most boisterous, crowded and fun filled places of our institute, canteens are on top. The canteens are situated next to Tiger Chauraha which turns out to be the most visited spots of college other the classrooms.

There are three canteens in a single row, when you don't find something you need you can easily switch. Well, no place beats our college canteen. This is the only place where everyone goes and feels like a sense of home. It is place of unmatched happiness to spend our free time. After attending brainstorming lectures of mechanics and physics or after solving cumbersome mathematics equations, we don't need to go to our boring hostel's room, rather just sit here and spend our spare time with others enjoying a soothing cup of coffee and hot Maggi.

It is the nonpareil location to be extricated from boredom for our hostelers! It's a special place that spreads its arms wide open welcoming you at all hours. Now, it can be understood that the canteen is an integral part of the college life for every student-bunking class, bonding with your gang, or emergency date-all happens on this spot. Enthralling lush of green gives a value addition to the beauty of this place. Besides this, believe me, no one can make better Maggie than the canteen wale bhaiya. For all those people who just felt the taste bud lit up, go eat Maggie in our canteen; especially butter maggie. Add to that, canteens also serve parathas -paneer, pyaz or plain-at very affordable price

Believe me, it tastes so good: "Jese Ghar wala swaad!"

Many a time great events that include, cake smeared on the face to the birthday fella in the canteen, Running around, yelling and bringing the house down with all the craziest while asking the canteen bhaiya to join in, on the fun just cannot be forgotten. At last, It's a place of NO ORDER REQUIRED! This place where you can sit all day long, do nothing or loads of things, without even ordering for a single cup of tea or coffee.

The timings feel like a blessing, you will always find one of three canteens open no matter what time is it.

Dispensary

In front of Sarojini and to the right of the sports ground awaits a dedicated team of a doctor, pharmacist, receptionist and a watchman to look after you and your health.

The dispensary is good enough to treat common ailments like fever, flu, back pain, headache and more.  It has an ambulance which is available for 24*7 hours, so it's a big relief for students residing in hostels. They provide medicines free of cost but only after you get a check up and the doctor prescribes.

Overall it's really a boon for students residing in IET hostels and suffering from any sudden common diseases. You can always place your trust upon them for your health and medical safety.

So, now when you know the ins and out of the campus, if you are a theist and Hindu, you will be pleased to know there is a temple inside the campus after the VC Sir's house. Also, you will see bare grounds which are just bare and often used for plantation drives. You will also see quite a wildlife here, colorful peacocks, slithery worms, cute pups, small kittens, chirping  birds and obviously your friends.

Wish you a very beautiful life in college and hope you relish these years when you look back.
