HULT Prize

Hult Prize is a  highly sought after year long annual competition that crowd sources ideas from college students all around the globe on social entrepreneurship. Along with full-fledged international exposure for each participant, the winner is awarded 1 Million dollars to incubate the idea that could impact millions. It is perhaps the only competition that is committed to incubate ideas of college students.

 

Thousands of prestigious institutes from all across the world participate in the Hult Prize event becoming the community builders,  which involves shouldering a requisite set of responsibilities , organising and marketing the intra college level events through defined protocols , which in turn is a high yielding learning experience in itself for each college that participates.

 

The Hult Prize has four rounds which are , The On Campus , The Regionals , The Accelerator and the Globe Finals , wherein the participating institute has complete authority to organise the On Campus round with all protocols and send forward the best among them to the further rounds.

IET Lucknow ventured into the Hult community for the very first time ,  organising the On Campus round and spurring the idea of social entrepreneurship with full zeal , through our extremely dedicated Hult in campus team of students. This year’s theme was “Food for Good” , which invites innovative ideas that could be related to food processing , distribution or inventive practices related to it , that ultimately aim towards impacting at least 10 Million consumers.

The on campus round was successfully organised under the able supervision of senior faculty members and was judged by an eminent panel , including people from Forbes 30 under 30 , Asia edition and notable social entrepreneurs , namely Ms  Alina Alam , founder , Mitti Cafe and in Forbes Asia 30 under 30 , Ms Radhika Batra , rising social entrepreneur , founder of Every Infant matters also a place holder in Forbes 30 under 30 , Ms Nicky Nancy , PhD Economics and associate professor at IET Lucknow , Mr. Srijan Pal Singh , ex advisor to the former President of India and mentor to the Uttar Pradesh start up policy.

 

The whole event spanning around 8 days from October 18 to October 26, including registrations , submissions and mentoring sessions .The final event was preceded by multiple mentoring sessions organised by the institute’s Hult team for the participants by international Hult winners and community builders , to equip the participants with all the pre requisites and strategies. From the preliminary round out of all the submissions , 10 teams with 3-4 members each were short listed for the final on campus round on the basis of their idea document they submitted. In the purview of the prevalent pandemic , the round was online , but none the less thrilling for the participants , who had first been filtered out in the preliminary round and then presented their ideas live to the eminent panel. 

 

The winning team Unique O , presented the idea of transforming the ubiquitous “dhabas” ; small , humble eateries on Indian highways frequented by domestic travelers by transforming them into a trustworthy hygienic entity which provide quality food with a better ambience and connecting them in their brand’s chain making them able to earn more and in turn more employment and less food wastage.

The participants were extremely satisfied and elated with the whole process and the competition. Ayushi Agarwal , participant opines about the event : “ Hult Prize made us all believe that we, the youth , are very much capable of of bringing a change in the world with ideas. We explored the nitty-gritties of entrepreneurship and in the process found new ways to reinforce team cooperation in times of social distancing.” Prithvee Sawlani , participant says : “ The competition has taught me more about team work , multitasking and strategizing than I had ever been able to learn.”

 

We hope to keep up with the ardour, encourage the spirit of social entrepreneurship and are committed to create a positive impact through an idea that can presumably reach millions.
