Episode 05: The Cameras of IET

Hey! Hey! Hey!

Did you really think nobody would notice you taking that canteen bottle with you to just smash it around in the end?

Well, yeah maybe no human, but I'm right here, observing such a misdeed, you oversmart, trying to look cool lad!

Yes! You guessed it right, I am one of the not-so famous, quite ignored CCTV cameras of IET. Despite growing a significant role in the digital world, I feel utterly futile in this castle of engineers.

In Ramanujan hostel, the so-called first home away from home for students, my importance quite increases as I have the work of inspection of the freshman belongings which cannot be directly monitored by the hostel authorities. Same is the case for the female residents.

Endsems!! Alas! one of the most concerning aspects of being a student of engineering. Yes, even if we used to protect them, we are now entrusted with the task of ensuring a fair test. Yes! The aforementioned points make our importance fairly clear.

Too much praise now, but the useless part is following. In a sense, it's not useless, but now it's time for us to do our role on campus. The various areas of the university are still being watched, yes! But because the inoperative ones are merely there for show, it only applies to the ones that work.

Despite the fact that our data is only examined in cases of surveillance, we nonetheless serve as a fictitious memory keeper. Right!. Again, this is praiseworthy since it elevates us to a position of importance on the IET campus.

Students occasionally give us strange looks and other times treat us like we don't exist. There is no grey area. As they can be recorded, they occasionally check us when they try to do something naughty just or against the law.

Strangely enough, although it is true, the authorities have spent the greatest amount on us regarding virtualization of security. There are regions like sports complex building, afar areas of canteen, etc. which make our blind spots, though students are scrutinized in classrooms, college and hostel gates.

Ten years ago, we were hardly present on campus; today, we are quite present, watching over the IET and its residents. We still play a crucial function as a security provider in the life of an IETian even though our quality and upkeep could be improved

Ending with the last note, I'd like to say that though we are ignored , our informal records of students wandering over the campus, in and out, getting engaged in various mischievous activities in the LTs and in the campus to create the best memories of their lives, makes us special. So whenever you pass nearby any of us, please be quite careful yet cheerful because we are all the time watching you! As such things are there, we consider ourselves to be one of the foremost parts of IET.
