Episode 01: Mitochondria
29 Septe.. “None of us care”
Roomful of students. Pens scribbling away. Tick tock tick tock. 5 minutes on the clock. 4 questions left.
No idea about 3 of them. What a Dumbass.
"Think. Think. Think"
I gazed at the blackboard.
“Half Yearly (aka less important than final examinations) " it said.
Huh. If I leave all of them? Forget about 10 CGPA. Can't let that happen.
Should I read them again? Let's read them again!
"Describe the func-Nope. Nope.NOPE"
"last questi-What is the powerhouse of cell?”
A drop of sweat evaporated from my head. A temperature never felt before. Thoughts wrestled in my mind as I read the question again.
“I know this answer!” “I read it last night”
*exhale* *inhale*
“Shit, buzzfeed said it releases tension. It freakin does not”
Clock above it was running in an unasked for race “tock-tick, tock-tick”
12 Hours earlier
It was the 2ndnight of holy Half Yearly Examinations.
I had my maths exam yesterday and I couldn’t completely solve the last 11 marker question from Exercise 7 on Page 768.
Me : Hmmm so, if the copy is checked by C section teacher Mr. Lenient Thakur then he will give me 36.5 marks out of 40.
Brain : What if he has stepped off from step marking?
Me : Comeon ya….. Ahm .... Will he? If he does not I will not get A1 in Maths, and if I did not get A1 even in the final exams then whole grade will be A2 then I will get 9.8 CGPA, Rahul from D section will not talk to me, I will lose my friends, I would not be good at studying ever, I am done for …..
Brain : Dang! You gotta save some pressure for the rest of night. Tomorrow is your Science exam.
Me : Ahhh!!Science. I think I should read an Einstein’s quote, that will surely motivate me to study all night long.
*opens laptop*
“A..l..b..e..r..t… …u..o..t..e..s” , “Hmm, so”
“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence. One can not help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality – Albert Einstein.”
“Hmmm, this lad seems interested in science quite a lot. Whatever, basic line is we need to question everything.”. “All right, I’m all set”
*2 hours later*
“Mitochondria is the powerhouse of cell”
“Mitochondria is the powerhouse of cell”
“Mitochondria is the power….”
“Wait, I got to question things. Why is mitochondria the powerhouse of cell?”
*opens laptop*
“Mitochondria is known as the powerhouse of cell because it is responsible for extracting energy from food through cellular respiration”
Me : This seems interesting, I should read more about it.
Brain : I think you should revise it more otherwise you will forg…
Me : Oh come on you, Einstein says you should question everything.
Brain : I’m not really sur….
*goes on to read more about Adenosine triphosphate but mitochondria*
Current Time
“I know this”
“Yes!! I remember it”
I looked at the clock, 10 seconds were left and I was happy that I finally got reminded of the name. Now I will get 37 numbers and A1 grade. I’m still in the race, I felt like jumping but stopped myself, because Rahul from Section D sitting just ahead of me may take me as a serious case of "Maniac”.
A long curve of smile got etched on my face as my lips tried to touch my ears as I picked up my Cello Butterflow to write down the answer.
“Chitomondria”
The bell rang.
